Overview:

Exciting Opportunities in General Engineering Position – FAA. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is accepting applications for General Engineering positions under the 0801 series. These positions will be filled using direct hiring authority and are open to U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or individuals who owe allegiance to the U.S. The position may require occasional travel and may include situational telework.

Salary: $47,813 – $155,403 per year (Locality pay will be determined based on duty location)

Salary:

– Base Salary Range: $47,813 – $155,403 per year
– Note: Salary does not include locality pay. Locality will be determined based on the duty location of the selectee.

 

Telework Eligibility:
Yes, situational telework may be permitted per agency policy.

Relocation Expenses:
Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

 

Position Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for performing professional engineering duties, which may include advising, administering, supervising, or performing research or other professional and scientific work. Specific tasks may involve:

– Applying engineering knowledge in areas such as material strength, strain analysis, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and other engineering disciplines.
– Investigating physical and chemical characteristics of engineering materials.
– Analyzing engineering structures, systems, and data.

Key Duties May Include:
- Reviewing and assembling acquisition packages, requests for proposals, and bids.
- Utilizing design software and tools to assist in project design and system improvements.
- Analyzing statistical data and production specifications for standard determination and quality control.
- Conducting engineering tests and advising on the integration and operational testing of systems.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

1. Education:
– A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, OR
– A degree including courses in calculus and fundamental engineering sciences such as dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and others.

2. Combination of Education and Experience:
– A mix of relevant education, training, and/or technical experience that provides a thorough knowledge of engineering fundamentals.

Specialized Experience:

– FV-G Level:
– At least one year of specialized experience at the FV-G level (GS-5/7/9), OR
– Three years of progressively higher-level graduate education, or a combination of education and experience.

– FV-H to FV-K Levels:
– Candidates must meet the requirements for each level by demonstrating specialized experience equivalent to the previous level in the FV series (e.g., FV-H equivalent to GS-11/12, FV-I equivalent to GS-13, FV-J equivalent to GS-14).

 

Additional Requirements:

– U.S. Citizenship is required.
– Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
– Positive Education Requirement: Applicants must submit transcripts to verify qualifications.
– Security Clearance may be required.
